Cone-beam computed tomography systems (CBCT) are a variation of traditional computed tomography systems. The CBCT system will rotate around the patient, capturing data using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. These data are used to reconstruct a three-dimensional (3D) image of the following regions of the patient’s anatomy: dental (teeth); oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck); and ears, nose, and throat (“ENT”).

At Johns Creek Dental Excellence, our mission is to provide our patients with the superior dental services they deserve. That’s why we’re committed to utilizing the most advanced technologies in the dental industry. This helps ensure that we’re able to provide our patients with the most up-to-date services that can be customized based on their needs.

With such a commitment to our patients’ satisfaction, it’s no wonder Johns Creek Dental Excellence is the preferred family dental practice serving the greater Johns Creek, GA area (including Alpharetta, Roswell, and Milton).

One of the most advanced technologies we use in our office is the cone beam computed tomography scanner, otherwise known as a CBCT x-ray. This machine allows our dentists to get a closer look at the interior of your mouth, which is critical for both cosmetic and general dental services. For example, dental implants can be more precise with CBCT x-rays, as it allows us to collect up to 600 images in just a short amount of time.

The process for undergoing a CBCT x-ray is surprisingly simple. Patients can expect the x-ray machine to rotate around their heads while the images are being collected. Once the data has been collected, the machine reconstructs the images to produce a three-dimensional image that can be manipulated with computer software. This allows us to get a much more precise view into your mouth, which can help us further personalize your dental care.

It’s just another way Johns Creek Dental Excellence is committed to the satisfaction of our patients!
